The forest fire has destroyed a large base of the Navy of Russia near Moscow. Its occurred back in July 29, but it not became known immediately. Life News agency was the first reported about the incident : according to its data, 200 units of aircraft to the sum of 20 billion rubles were destroyed near Moscow.

The very base of 100 hectares was burnt to ashes, the agency reported citing its source.

However, the Russian Defense Ministry denies this message. "There not any naval air base in the Kolomna district of Moscow region. All the more the information on the destruction by fire of more than 200 aircraft to the sum of 20 billion rubles is not true", the representative of the Ministry tried to assert.

However, other sources confirm the fire.

"Initial inquiry is being conducted upon a fire on the Navy base", the Military Department of Investigation, of the Moscow Military District commented on the information, with specifying neither the number of military unit nor the damages caused by the fire.

Later on the ITAR-TASS news agency issued a statement of the Defense Ministry : indeed, "the upstream fire spread to the territory of one of the units in the Kolomna district on July 29".

"Ignition in the technical area, where were the write-off property and automotive equipment stationed, originated as a result. As a result of actions taken on the same day the fire was localized and extinguished", reported in the military department.

"The fire spread over a secret unit of the area in 100 hectares in 10 minutes", source of Life News said. At the same time, it said, is not the only emergency situation from which the servicemen suffered.

"One building of the storage base of property of the Navy forces was also burned down. The damage there is less for several times - about one million rubles. The property subject to write-off was kept on that base", he added.

Official spokesman for Investigative Committee, Vladimir Markin, confirmed that an initial inquiry into the fire is being conducted by the Military Investigations Department of the Moscow Military District. The fire occurred on Thursday 29 July. It took place at about 04:00 pm on the base of storage of aviation and technical equipment of the Navy of Russia, located near the town of Kolomna, Moscow Region, Markin said to Interfax news agency.

Admittedly he said nothing about 200 jets and helicopters and 20 million rubles, but pointed out that the HQ, the financial unit, the club, two boxes of Automobile Park, 13 storage facilities with aviation for different purposes, 17 open areas for storage of equipment with cars on them, were burned down.

"On July 30 the hotbeds of fire were localized. No one was suffered as a result of fire", said Markin.

According to unofficial data, the Central Aerotechnical Base (CAB) of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Russian Navy is located on the outskirts of the town of Kolomna (Shurovo District).

The main tasks of the personnel of the military unit are receiving, storing and processing of aerial, hydrographic and navigator property coming from the industrial enterprises, aviation and technical units, military schools and repair facilities of the Navy.

The Northern Fleet, Pacific Fleet, Baltic Fleet, Black Sea Fleet, the Caspian flotilla, the St. Petersburg Naval Base, units of the Air Forces of the Navy of Russia, have been providing maintenance for 60 years by the CAB.

Thus, the fire destroyed a largest military base of the Russian Navy.
